Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt talks with the media in Oklahoma City.

(The Center Square) – Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt is calling lawmakers back to the state capitol in November to draw new legislative and congressional districts.

Stitt said the special session will begin Nov. 15 with redistricting as the sole focus.

Lawmakers must draw new boundaries every 10 years to account for migration and population changes. The redistricting process was delayed this year because the U.S. Census Bureau was late in reporting the latest census data, citing COVID-19.

Oklahoma's population grew by more than 200,000 between 2010 and 2020.
