As Illinois lawmakers eye CBD regulations, seller asks for uniform federal oversight
State Rep. Bob Morgan wants to regulate CBD oil in Illinois.
Morgan said thousands of different types of CBD products are sold all over the state with no oversight. He wants to require third-party lab testing.
Simply CBD co-owner Deb Carroll said the products they sell in Springfield are already tested.
She urged state policymakers to let the federal government lead any regulatory efforts to ensure there’s a level playing field across the country.
IRS announces assistance to farmers forced to sell livestock in some Illinois counties
Illinois farmers in Hancock, Henderson, Mercer, Rock Island, Warren and border counties may be able to shield themselves from a big tax hit after severe weather forced them to sell off their livestock.
The IRS announced qualified farmers whose drought-sale replacement period was scheduled to expire on Dec. 31 now have until the end of their 2020 tax year to replace the livestock, deferring gains taxes from the forced sales.
State web tool wins national award
Illinois’ College2Career Tool, a mobile app that’s also online, has won a national award.
The tool helps students find the Illinois college or university best fit for their education and career goals.
Higher education officials say the app was among 32 state, city and county award recipients recognized with a Government Experience Award from the Center for Digital Government.
